Why this page exists
The Apache-2.0 license on our open-source core gives you broad rights to use, modify and redistribute the software. It explicitly does not grant rights to our trademarks — see section 6 of that license.
That distinction trips people up constantly and in good faith, so rather than leaving it to be discovered, here is our actual position.
What the marks are
The name Revoluzen, the Revoluzen logo mark, and the product names Revoluzen Flow, Revoluzen Flow Enterprise, Revoluzen Catalog, Revoluzen Studio, Revoluzen Console, Revoluzen Mobile and Revoluzen Evidence are marks of Revoluzen Technologies Pvt Ltd.
What you may do, without asking
- Say truthfully that your product, service or article works with, integrates with, is built on, or is about Revoluzen software.
- Use the name in articles, talks, tutorials, comparisons and reviews — including critical ones. We would rather be discussed than protected from discussion.
- Use the name in a fork’s documentation to state accurately what the fork is derived from, for example “a fork of Revoluzen Flow”.
- Use the unmodified logo to link to us, at a legible size and with clear space around it.
In all of these, use the name as an adjective referring to our thing — not as the name of your thing.
What needs our written permission
- Using Revoluzen or a product name in the name of your company, product, service, domain name, app, or social media account.
- Distributing a modified build under our name, which is the case most likely to mislead someone into thinking we support software we have never seen.
- Offering a commercial hosted or managed service branded with our names.
- Using our marks on merchandise, or in a way that implies partnership, certification, sponsorship or endorsement.
- Registering our marks, or anything confusingly similar, anywhere.
Permission is a conversation, not a form. Write to hello@revoluzen.io and tell us what you want to do.
Forks, specifically
You may fork the open-source code — that is the point of the license, and we would rather you forked than stayed stuck. If you distribute your fork, please give it its own name and its own logo.
Describing it accurately as derived from Revoluzen Flow is fine and welcome. Calling it Revoluzen Flow, or something near enough that a user would assume we built it, is not, because it attaches our reputation to code we do not control.
Using the logo
- Do not stretch, recolour, rotate or add effects to the mark.
- Do not combine it with your own logo so that it reads as one joint mark.
- Keep clear space around it and do not place it on a busy background.
- Do not use it as your own avatar, app icon or favicon, which implies the account or application is ours.
Other companies' marks
The names and logos of the systems Revoluzen connects to — databases, cloud services, business applications — are trademarks of their respective owners. They appear on this site, for example on the integrations page, only to identify what the software works with. Their use does not mean those companies endorse Revoluzen, or that Revoluzen is affiliated with them. If you own one of those marks and would prefer we showed only the name, write to privacy@revoluzen.io and we will change it.
If we ask you to stop
If we think a use is misleading, we will write to you and explain why before doing anything else. In almost every case this is a misunderstanding that a short email resolves, and we intend to treat it that way.
Questions, including “is this allowed?”, go to hello@revoluzen.io. See also our website terms and open-source commitments.
